Day 323

"I have broken the arm of Pharaoh"

Text: Ezekiel 30:21

BREAKING THE ARMS OF PHARAOH

Another word from the Lord came to Ezekiel. Once again, this message from God was dated. (This was about four months before the fall of Jerusalem).

“And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first month,
on the seventh day of the month,
that the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
‘Son of man, I have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt;
and see, it has not been bandaged for healing,
nor a splint put on to bind it,
to make it strong enough to hold a sword.
Therefore thus says the Lord God:
‘Surely I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt,
and will break his arms,
both the strong one and the one that was broken;
and I will make the sword fall out of his hand.””
Ezekiel 30:20-22

1. Dating of prophecies.

a) Some were dated.

b) But not all prophecies were dated.

c) The important thing is that the word of the Lord was given.

2. Breaking of the arm of Pharaoh.

a) This was a symbolic reference.

b) This is not a reference to the actual physical arm of Pharaoh.

c) What an “arm” represents:

i) Strength

ii) Power

iii) Might

d) What a broken arm represents:

i) Weakness

ii) Loss of might

iii) Loss of strength

3. An untreated broken arm:

a) No bandage applied.

b) No splint applied.

c) The broken arm is unable to hold a sword.

4. Breaking of the other arm of Pharaoh.

a) God forewarned that He would break the other arm of Pharaoh.

b) This would make Pharaoh totally vulnerable.

c) The Pharaoh would not even have strength to hold a sword, let alone wield it in battle.
