"The day of the Lord is near"

Text: Ezekiel 30:3

THE DAY OF THE LORD

Ezekiel was given another prophetic word to proclaim. This word was called “The day of the Lord” prophecy.

“The word of the Lord came to me again, saying,
‘Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God:
‘Wail, ‘Woe to the day!’
For the day is near,
Even the day of the Lord is near;
It will be a day of clouds, the time of the Gentiles.”'”
Ezekiel 30:1-3

1. “The word of the Lord”

a) This was another message from God.

b) He communicated a solemn word to Ezekiel.

c) He would bring about “the day of the Lord”.

2. “The day of the Lord”

a) It would be a solemn day.

b) It would be a day marked by:

i) Woe

ii) Wailing would be the response of many in “the day of the Lord”.

3. The nearness of the fulfilment of this prophecy.

a) This prophecy would be fulfilled imminently.

b) It was “near”.

c) For emphasis, the word “near” was repeated.

4. The time of the Gentiles.

a) It would be a day that would be cloudy.

b) The usual sunshine would not be there.

c) It would be the time when God would allow Gentiles to have the upper hand over Israel.

d) It would be a sad and sobering day for all concerned.
