Day 322

"When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son." Hosea 11:1

Text: Exodus 33 : 14

UNDERSTANDING THE RESPONSES OF GOD

Only a man of God like Moses would be able to fully appreciate the sensitivities involved in prayer! The following things are tabulated for easier reference:

1. Prayer to avert Threat of God’s wrath Exodus 32:7-10

a) Prayer for God’s wrath to be averted Exodus 32:11-13
b) Prayer answered Exodus 32:14
God relented!

2. Prayer for forgiveness of the sins of Israel Exodus 32:31-32

a) Moses offered his life on behalf of Israel Exodus 32:32
b) Moses’ offer of himself as a sacrifice rejected Exodus 32:33
c) Threat of visitation of punishment still existed Exodus 32:34-35

3. Prayer for Full Restoration of God’s relationship

a) God kept a distance from Israel Exodus 33:1-3
b) A Tent of Meeting was erected “outside the camp” Exodus 33:7
c) Plea to God to regard Israel as “His people” Exodus 33:13
At all times, Moses had to be very sensitive to God’s response. Some may be satisfied with “any kind of response” from God. But not Moses! He understood God’s responses and thus he persevered in prayer till he had obtained for Israel, what he knew was badly needed.

ANOTHER ANSWER TO PRAYER

Graciously God answered Moses yet again. He loved this dear servant of His, and desired to grant him his request!

“And He said, ‘My Presence will go with you,
and I will give you rest.'”
EXODUS 33:14

1. “And He said…”

God had indeed answered Moses’ prayer!

2. “My Presence…”

God will indeed restore the broken relationship as Moses had requested!
