DAILY MINISTRIES AT THE TABERNACLE
What were some of the ministries at the Tabernacle that the priests would be engaged in? The following text gives an important glimpse of a special ministry the priests must engage in every day.
“Now this is what you shall offer on the altar:
two lambs of the first year, day by day continually.
One lamb you shall offer in the morning, and the other lamb
you shall offer at twilight.”
EXODUS 29:38-39
1. “One lamb you shall offer in the morning”
This particular offering is to be differentiated from the sacrifices made at the consecration of the priests. This offering was to be made to the Lord every single morning, without fail!
2. “And the other lamb you shall offer at twilight”
This was the second lamb that must be offered to the Lord daily! The priests must make sure that these offerings were made with full understanding of their significance.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE DAILY OFFERINGS
The Book of Numbers offers an important insight as to why these offerings were to be offered to the Lord.
“Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
‘Command the children of Israel, and say to them,
‘My offering, My food for My offerings made by fire
as a sweet aroma to Me, you shall be careful to offer to Me
at their appointed times.’It is a regular burnt offering which was ordained at Mount Sinai
for a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD.”
NUMBERS 28:1-2, 6
1. For the purpose of worship
These burnt offerings were meant as “worship”. The sacrifice of lambs would always necessitate the shedding of blood. The blood would symbolize cleansing of sin!
2. For the purpose of expressing love for the Lord
Burnt offerings carry one special significance. They were meant to express deep love for the Lord.
3. For the purpose of keeping a strong and intimate relationship with God
The daily exercise was designed to sustain a healthy relationship with God!
