Ephesians
Day
Day 351

"Praying always with all prayer and supplications in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints."

Text: Ephesians 6:18

PRAYING ALWAYS

Prayer must be considered one of the greatest privileges God has graciously given to us. Passage after stirring passage may be found in the Scriptures to encourage us to pray. Let us take time to look at some of these soul uplifting texts.

1. Encouraged to pray always because we have Jesus as our Great High Priest

We should be deeply encouraged to pray so much more because we know that the Lord Jesus Christ is our great High Priest.

Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling,
consider the Apostle and High Priests of our confession,
Christ Jesus.
HEBREWS 3:1

Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren,
that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest
in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation
for the sins of the people,
For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able
to aid those who are tempted.
HEBREWS 2:17-18

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed
through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast
our confession.
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathise
with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are,
yet without sin.
HEBREWS 4:14-15

We have every reason to pray without ceasing. The knowledge of Jesus as our great High Priest should stir our hearts deeply to pray with great confidence. Two things may be highlighted in particular:-

a) The Lord Jesus is able to grant aid.

b) He sympathises with our weaknesses.

2. Encouraged to pray always because we come to the throne of grace

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in
time of need.
HEBREWS 4:16

Let us be deeply challenged to pray always because we will find all the mercy and grace in our hour of need.
