REVIEW OF THE PANOPLY OF GOD

Let us take time to review the whole armour of God graciously provided.

1. The Belt of Truth (Ephesians 6:14)

2. The Breastplate of Righteousness (Ephesians 6:14)

3. The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace (Ephesians 6:15)

4. The Shield of Faith (Ephesians 6:16)

5. The Helmet of Salvation (Ephesians 6:17)

6. The Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17)

A PICTURE OF AN ARMY ON THE MOVE

What was the portrait Paul wanted to paint in this passage?

1. What it is not

a) Not besieged

It is not a picture of a city besieged.

b) Not ensnared

It is not a picture of an army that has been trapped or ensnared.

2. What it is

a) A picture of an army on the move

It is a picture of a powerful army on the move…powerful, certain and determined.

b) A picture of an army that knows its mission

The army, well-shod with the Gospel of peace is making great advances into the kingdom of darkness.

c) A picture of an enemy desperately fighting

The enemy is doing all it can desperately to prevent God’s army from winning more souls over.

d) A picture of a triumphant army

We have a picture of a triumphant army led by the Lord of hosts Himself.

The solemn question is whether the Biblical picture is mirrored by the Church today. The sad truth is that the Church seems to have only a rag-tag army today.
