Ephesians
Day
Day 322

"Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."

Text: Ephesians 6:11

KNOWLEDGE OF SPIRITUAL WARFARE

Many Christians do not have full knowledge of what spiritual warfare constitutes. Let us try to comprehend what the apostle John wrote further about this spiritual war that Satan wages against the saints of God, indeed, against the world.

Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea!
For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath,
because he knows that he has a short time.
Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth,
he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child…
And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went
to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep
the commandments of God and have the testimony
of Jesus Christ.
REVELATION 12:12, 13, 17

1. An angry Enemy

Satan is described as an angry dragon. His anger is described as “great wrath”.

a) He is angry that he has been cast out of heaven.
b) He is angry that he has but a limited time (a short time).
c) He is angry at all, who keep the commandments of God.

2. Expressions of anger

a) Persecution was one expression of the wrath of the devil.
b) “Making war”- suggests a warfare that will not cease.

UNAFRAID OF WARFARE

It is vital that the believer is not overcome by fear when he reads these chilling words. He does not need to fear for a good number of reasons.

1. Satan is a defeated foe

He was defeated in heaven. He will be defeated on the earth.

2. Means of Overcoming the Devil

How may he be overcome? Let us ponder these words deeply:-

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony.
