Ephesians
Day
Day 203

"One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

Text: Ephesians 4:6

ONE GOD (“theos”)

The role of God is greatly extolled in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. The following texts may be cited to demonstrate Paul’s delight in offering great glory to God.

1. The Giver of all blessings

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing
in the heavenly places in Christ.
EPHESIANS 1:3

2. The One who will gather all who trust in Christ to Himself

That in the dispensation of the fullness of the times
He might gather together in one all things in Christ,
both which are in heaven and which are on earth- in Him.
EPHESIANS 1:10

3. The One who is rich in mercy and love

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love
with which He loved us.
EPHESIANS 2:4

GOD AS FATHER (“pater”)

The word “theos” is a fairly common word. Other religions also make use of this same word to describe the deity they worship. Paul was quick to add another title to distinguish Him from other deities. Frequently, the apostle called Him, “Father”.

1. The Father of our Lord Jesus Christ

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…
EPHESIANS 1:3

For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ…
EPHESIANS 3:14

2. The Father of glory

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory…
EPHESIANS 1:17

FATHER OF ALL

God is Father to the Lord Jesus Christ. In Christ’s grace and through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, we have access to Him as our Father.

For through Him (the Lord Jesus Christ),
we both have access by one Spirit to the Father
EPHESIANS 2:18
