Day 116

"In whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord."

Text: Ephesians 2:21

GOD’S COMMITMENT TO AID SPIRITUAL GROWTH

God is committed to helping the individual Christian grow so that he can contribute to the ultimate growth of “the holy temple”. He has amply provided for good spiritual growth. Let us take time to consider His gracious provision:-

1. Every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3)

We do not lack anything at all. We have every blessing from the Lord to aid spiritual growth

2. The redemptive work of Christ

Two aspects may be highlighted:-

a) The work on the Cross (Ephesians 2:8-9, 13)
b) The continuing work of Christ (Ephesians 2:16)

Both aspects are relevant and important. Knowledge of these great spiritual truths would aid spiritual growth significantly

3. The work of the Spirit of God

a) He is our Seal (Ephesians 1:13)
b) He is also our Guarantor (Ephesians 1:14)
c) He continues to enlighten us with reference to knowledge of God (Ephesians 1:17)

4. The work of the Father

a) He continues to work within us (Ephesians 2:10)
b) God will one day subdue all things for the sake of Christ (Ephesians 1:20-23)

WHAT IS OUR COMMITMENT TO SPIRITUAL GROWTH?

God will never fail to do his part. However there is another part of the equation that must be given some attention. What is our commitment to the pursuit of spiritual growth?

1. Are we growing in our knowledge of God?

2. Have we grown in our understanding of His revealed plans?

3. Are we seeking God’s power to fill our life?

These and other vital questions must be considered honestly, if we are to grow significantly.
