Ephesians

Ephesians
Day
Day 57

"And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church."

Text: Ephesians 1:22

EXULTING IN THE HEADSHIP OF CHRIST

All true believers cannot but exult in the knowledge of Christ being “Head over all things”. Only He deserves this honour bestowed upon Him. No one else is worthy. The apostle John was once given a vision of the throne room in heaven. The following text confirms that Jesus is the only one worthy of the greatest honour.

“And they sang a new song, saying:
‘You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood…'”
REVELATION 5:9

“TO THE CHURCH”

While we may have absolutely no difficulty in understanding the exaltation of Christ, we may have to struggle with this phrase, “to the Church”. How does this phrase fit in? How do we understand this intriguing thought suggested?

1. The Church to share in Christ’s exaltation

This is a truly stupendous thought, isn’t it? It is staggering to think that the Church should share in this great honour granted to Christ?

2. Vital Confirming texts

Are we correct to make such a statement? Let us ponder two texts that will help us appreciate this tremendous truth.

a) Messianic Plan

The Messianic Prophecy included those called “God’s people”.

“Your people shall be volunteers
In the day of Your power…”
PSALM 110:3

b) A special word of revelation

This special word of revelation is found in the following text. It elucidates the text of Psalm 110:3.

“And have made us kings and priests to our God;
And we shall reign on the earth.”
REVELATION 5:10

In God’s glorious plan of redemption, we who believe in Christ enjoy the fullness of blessing.

“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit
that we are children of God,
and if children, then heirs- heirs of God,
and joint-heirs with Christ…”
ROMANS 8:16-17

How we must learn to rejoice in God’s redemptive plan in Christ Jesus our Lord!
