RECAPITULATION: LESSONS FROM PAUL’S PRAYER

It would be good if we take time to recapitulate our understanding of Paul’s intercessory ministry. May our hearts be challenged to learn deep and vital lessons that will deepen our prayer life:-

1. Intercession

Two vital lessons stand out:-

a) Ceaseless efforts must be made.
b) Deep and thoughtful meditative prayer must be offered.

2. Comprehension

a) Of God the Father and His role in hearing prayers.
b) Of the Lord Jesus Christ as our Redeemer-Mediator.
c) Of the Spirit of God as He ministers alongside teaching us how to “pray in the Spirit”.

3. Enlightenment

a) Concerning the hope of God’s calling.
b) Concerning our inheritance in Christ.
c) Concerning the power of God in our life.

4. Faith

a) Its role in prayer.
b) Its role in life.

DEEPENING OUR PRAYER LIFE

How may we deepen our prayer-life effectively? Let us consider the following practical details:-

1. We must forswear all superficial and shallow efforts in prayer.

2. The Spirit of God will move our hearts to long for a deep and meaningful prayer-life.

3. We must yield to the leading of the Spirit of God and find ourselves hungering and thirsting for a deeper and more vibrant prayer-relationship with God.
