Day 28

"That in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth- in Him."

Text: Ephesians 1:10

GOD’S PLANS RECORDED IN THE SCRIPTURES

The Scriptures are an indispensable source of knowledge and revelation with reference to God’s plans. When we are able to understand His plans in the past, we will be able to appreciate His plans for the future.

1. God’s great plan of Redemption

a) He created the heavens and the earth.
b) He made man and then gave him dominion of the earth.
c) However, sin and Satan entered into the picture and blighted His plan to bless man.
d) God then activates His Redemptive Plan to save mankind.
e) That plan of Redemption was prophesied in the Old Testament and fulfilled in Christ Jesus.

2. God’s special plan of blessing involving Israel

a) He gave a gracious Covenant to Abraham.
b) In and through his seed God would bless Israel.
c) However, Israel sinned terribly and was disciplined by the Lord.
d) Israel’s hope is to find Redemption in their Messiah Christ Jesus

3. God’s special plan to create “The Church”

a) God’s Redemptive Plan included Gentiles.
b) They too may be called “sons of God”.
c) The Redemptive plan in Christ was truly profoundly full and complete.

GOD’S FUTURE ULTIMATE PLAN REVEALED

At the moment, there are many things that seem to thwart the fulfillment of God’s future and ultimate plan. What is that plan? One day, God would “gather together in one all things”. Jew and Gentile, Israel and the Church, those in heaven and those on earth… all would be gathered together as one complete entity. The focal point of this great plan of God is in none other than the Person of our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Faith enables us to “see” and believe that this ultimate will of God would also be fulfilled!
