"And being found in appearance as a man..."

Text: Philippians 2:8

LET US MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE

When God planned the creation of man, He had great plans in store.

“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image,
according to Our likeness; let them have dominion…’
So God created man in His own image;
in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them.
Then God blessed them…”
Genesis 1:26-28

1. The following features may be noted: –

a) It is not insignificant to be made in God’s image.
b) Man was to have dominion over the earth.
c) He gave His blessings as well.
i) To signify His approval; and
ii) To empower for life and ministry.

2. This blessing was given

a) To the First Man.
b) To the Second Man.

3. How Jesus responded to His being found in the appearance of man

a) He humbled Himself (Philippians 2:8).
b) He became obedient (Philippians 2:8).

SIGNIFICANT IMPLICATIONS

What are some significant implications that we must take note of?

1. Humbling Himself

a) He recognized His dependence on the Spirit of God.
b) He yielded Himself fully to the leading of the Spirit of God.
c) This was His wisdom and strength.

2. Became obedient

a) There are few virtues more significant than total obedience to God.
b) Adam fell because he was not obedient; Jesus did not make that mistake. He chose full and complete obedience to the will of God.
