"Be diligent to be found by Him in peace"

Text: 2 Peter 3:14

THE CALL TO BE DILIGENT

Many believers struggle with being diligent. This was the case in the days of the apostle Peter. It is still a problem for us today!

“Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things,
be diligent to be found by Him in peace,
without spot and blameless.”
2 Peter 3:14

1. “Therefore, beloved”

a) Once again, Peter expressed obvious affection.

b) His letters were written lovingly.

c) The brethren were dearly loved.

2. “Looking forward to these things”

a) Peter repeats himself meaningfully.

b) The Second Coming of Christ was something to look forward to.

c) He would bring about wonderful changes when He returns.

3. “Be diligent”

a) This is a key thing to possess.

b) It is to be applied in life in every sense of the word.

4. Areas where diligence must be practised

a) “In peace”

i) This is often used with reference to human relationships.

ii) More so, in relationships among brethren in the church.

iii) Diligence must be exercised so that peace may reign

b) “Without spot and blameless”

i) This phrase is used with reference to our conduct in the world.

ii) Every believer must strive to be as free from sin as possible.

iii) Diligence would help us to be blameless in character.

iv) Diligence would enable us to be untainted by the world.
