Day 91

"Come out from among them and be separate..."

Text: 2 Corinthians 6:17

BEING GOD’S PEOPLE

What a privilege it is to be called “God’s people!” But with this honour comes responsibility to practise holiness.

“Therefore
‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.’
‘I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the LORD Almighty.'”
2 Corinthians 6:17-18

1. “Therefore come out from among them”

a) This is the first order.
b) And this command is from the LORD.

2. Clear commandments

a) Come out from among them.
i) There can be no compromise between Christ and Belial.
ii) Nor any agreement between the temple of God and idols.
iii) The believer must consider this commandment very carefully.
b) “Be separate”
i) He must see himself as being consecrated to God.
ii) The idea of separation was very distinct. (The priests, the holy temple artefacts were set apart for God.)
c) “Do not touch what is unclean”
i) This extends to many things.
ii) Including marriage.

3. “And I will receive you”

a) The clear commandments of God must first be kept.
b) Then would the Lord receive the repentant and obedient believer.

4. “I will be a Father to you”

a) This is a great and profound truth.
b) But this will not occur if an individual does not wish to obey the Lord and His commandments.

5. “And you shall be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty”

What a privilege to be called “sons and daughters” of the LORD Almighty. However, the children of God must comprehend the need to walk in the light of God’s Word. To all His children He says,

“You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.”
Leviticus 19:2
