"Who desires all men to be saved..."
Text: 1 Timothy 2:4
WRONG IDEAS
Many wrong ideas exist about the Person of God. The following ideas about God continue to this day. The following may be highlighted:-
1. There is no God. This is atheism, plain and simple.
2. God is unknowable.
3. God is unapproachable.
4. God does not care about mankind.
GOD’S DESIRE FOR ALL MANKIND
The apostle Paul begs to differ. He postulates this thought about God.
“Who desires all men to be saved and to
come to the knowledge of the truth.”
1 Timothy 2:4
1. “Who desires all men to be saved”
a) This reveals much about the heart of God.
i) He cares for mankind.
ii) He desires them to be saved.
b) Salvation
i) From sin.
ii) From self.
iii) From Satan.
iv) To possess life eternal .
2. “And to come to the knowledge of the truth”
a) There is a body of knowledge about God.
b) This body of knowledge is called “the truth”.
c) God desires mankind to have this knowledge of the truth.
d) This knowledge of the truth.
i) It is found in the Scriptures.
ii) It is embodied in the Lord Jesus Christ.
iii) Knowledge of the truth will liberate us from the power of sin.
