"So that He may establish your hearts..."

Text: 1 Thessalonians 3:13

PRAYING TO BE ESTABLISHED

Paul and Silas were deeply committed to more than just founding churches. They always sought to establish the faith of the brethren.

“So that He may establish your hearts blameless in
holiness before our God and Father at the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.”

1 Thessalonians 3:13

1. This was the last part of the prayer for the Thessalonians.

2. “So that He may establish your hearts”

a) Faith would then be confirmed.
b) Faith would be made strong.
c) An established faith would not be tossed to and fro easily.
i) Not by false teachings.
ii) Nor by trials and tribulations.
d) The heart is singled out for special mention.
i) The heart represents the seat of emotion.
ii) An established heart will hold steady in every circumstance of life.

3. “Blameless in holiness”

a) This does not mean perfection.
b) It highlights consecration and devotion to the Lord.

4. “Before our God and Father”

a) This is an important focus.
b) Ultimately we stand before God.
c) It is He who adjudge us blameless in holiness.

5. “At the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints”

a) This is a reference to the Second Coming of Christ.
b) The Lord will one day return to earth.
c) He will bring with Him all the departed saints.
d) He will come and receive the remaining saints.
e) This was a doctrine that Paul was close to his heart.
