"That you would walk worthy of God..."

Text: 1 Thessalonians 2:12

WALKING WORTHY

The apostle Paul had a wonderful personal experience of salvation. He could never appreciate God enough for the grace and mercy shown to him! He determined that he would walk worthy of the Lord. He shared this as a goal that everyone should have.

“That you would walk worthy of God who calls you
into His own kingdom and glory.”

1 Thessalonians 2:12

1. “That you would walk worthy”

a) This is a definite goal that every believer should have.
b) This is a distinctive goal to bear in mind.
c) This should be a way of life.

2. “Of God who calls you”

a) God is described as the One who calls.
b) He gives a divine invitation:-
i) To salvation
ii) To enter into His Kingdom
iii) To serve Him
c) “And glory”
i) This glory is associated with the Lord Himself.
ii) It is also associated with His Kingdom.
iii) It is further associated with the hereafter.

THE CHALLENGE TO PRACTICE WALKING WORTHY

Let us recall how Paul and his team exemplified this Christian walk.

1. In service, labouring hard (1 Thessalonians 2:9)

2. In behaviour

a) Devoutly
b) Justly
c) Blamelessly

3. In consciousness of God and men as witnesses (1 Thessalonians 2:10)

4. In genuine love for the brethren (1 Thessalonians 2:8)
