"You became examples..."
Text: 1 Thessalonians 1:7
LIVING OUT OUR FAITH
Our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was meant to be lived out. And when we consciously practise our faith we can impact many lives. This was certainly the experience of the apostle Paul.
“So that you became examples to all in Macedonia and
Achaia who believe.”
1 Thessalonians 1:7
1. “So that”
a) This expression speaks of result.
b) Paul and his team had made a great impact on Thessalonica.
i) By the preaching of the word of the gospel.
ii) By the power of God.
iii) By the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
iv) By the manner of life Paul and his team exemplified.
2. “You became examples”
a) The Thessalonians first came to faith in the Lord.
b) They went on to imitate Paul and his team.
c) They were in fact imitating Christ the Lord Himself.
d) In time to come they became examples.
i) By their lives
ii) By their genuineness of faith
3. Huge impact noted
a) Geographically
i) To all in Macedonia
ii) And Achaia
b) Spiritually
i) Those who were outside the faith were impressed.
ii) Those who were believers were deeply impacted.
THE CHALLENGE TO LIVE OUT OUR FAITH
The lesson that we must take to heart is obvious! Let us be deeply challenged to be an example for others to follow. The impact of a godly life is incalculable. Many hearts may be blessed and led to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ when we seek to imitate Him consciously!
