"Salvation of your souls"

Text: 1 Peter 1:9

THE GREAT SALVATION PLAN OF GOD

The plan of salvation that God designed must never be taken for granted. It is to be carefully studied and appreciated.

“Receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.”
1 Peter 1:9

1. The beginning of our salvation

a) Believing in Jesus, though not seeing Him.

b) Substance of our Faith in Jesus:

i) Elect of God.

ii) Sanctified by the Spirit.

iii) Sprinkled clean by the blood of Jesus.

iv) Begotten again to a living hope.

v) A glorious inheritance that is imperishable, incorruptible and does not fade.

vi) Kept by the power of God.

2. The place of faith

a) It is the means by which we believe and trust in Jesus.

b) It is the means by which we know we are protected and kept by God’s power.

c) This faith will be tested and because it is real it is of more value than gold.

d) This faith comes with the blessing of fulness of joy that comes from God.

3. “The end of your faith”

There will always be an end of everything.

a) Beginning of life, an End of life.

b) Beginning of the journey of faith, the End of that journey.

Where there is a beginning, there will also be an ending. The question is what the ending would look like.

4. “The salvation of your souls”

a) God’s plan of salvation has to do with our soul.

b) There are two parts to the human being:

i) The body

ii) The soul (the spirit)

c) The physical body will perish.

d) But the soul would live on.

e) God’s plan of our salvation:

i) Our soul would see salvation.

ii) Eternal life is God’s plan of salvation.

(There are numerous texts that speak of eternal life. e.g. John 3:16; 5:24; 6:39-40)
