“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
Text: 1 John 4:4
MAY WE NEVER GROW TIRED
Again and again the Apostle John mentions that we are the Lord’s! May we never grow tired of looking at this glorious truth!
THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Sometimes we take the Person and ministry of the Spirit of God for granted. John revelled in his understanding of what it means to have the Spirit of God to reside within!
“Because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
1 John 4:4
1. “Because”
a) We are able to be overcomers because of the Holy Spirit.
b) Because He is in us we do not need to be afraid of antichrists no matter how many they may be.
2. “He who is in you”
a) Let us seek to fathom this great truth.
b) Let us seek to apply this truth in our life.
3. “Greater”
a) Greater in power.
b) Greater in every sense of the word.
4. “He who is in the world”
a) It could be a reference to the spirit of the Antichrist.
b) It could be a reference to the false teacher/ prophet.
c) It could be a reference to the false brethren.
d) It could even be a reference to the Antichrist himself.
e) It could even include the Evil One.
5. “Greater than he who is in the world”
a) We can draw upon the resources of the Holy Spirit.
b) We can draw the following things so that we may appreciate just how much greater the Spirit of God is.
i) His wisdom to see through false spirits.
ii) His power to help us overcome all challenges.
iii) His strength to cope in tough circumstances.
