"By which we know that it is the last hour."
Text: 1 John 2:18
THE LAST HOUR
How well do we understand Eschatology? How seriously do we regard “The Last Hour?” The Apostle John wrote with a great sense of concern about “The last hour”.
“…As you have heard that the Antichrist is coming,
even now many antichrists have come,
by which we know that it is the last hour.”
1 John 2:18
1. “By which we know”
a) Knowledge is vital.
b) We must have some basic knowledge about the doctrine of Eschatology.
2. The teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ in the Gospels
a) Matthew 23-25 and Luke 21 form an essential core.
b) The major signs include the following: –
i) Great unrest in the world.
ii) Great hostility against the righteous.
iii) False prophets would arise.
iv) There would be some who would appear as “The Christ”.
3. The teachings of the Apostles
a) The Apostle Paul (2 Thessalonians 2; 1 Timothy 4; 2 Timothy 3)
b) The Apostle Peter (2 Peter 2-3)
c) The Apostle Jude (Jude)
d) The Apostle John (1 John 2)
