"You were enriched in everything..."

Text: 1 Corinthians 1:5

ENRICHED

In God’s gracious and divine plan for salvation and for the Church, He bestows many wonderful blessings. This thought should cause the heart to be truly thankful to the Lord our God.

“That you were enriched in everything by Him
in all utterance and all knowledge.”
1 Corinthians 1:5

1. “That you were enriched in everything by Him”

a) By Him… The Source.
i) God the Father.
ii) Through the Lord Jesus Christ.
iii) In this text, Paul highlights God the Father.
b) “That you were enriched”
i) The Corinthians were the recipients of God’s grace.
ii) Their being enriched did not come from themselves.
iii) They did not enrich themselves.
c) “In everything”
i) This is consistent with God’s plans to bless.
ii) It is possible to be greatly enriched (the meaning of “in everything”).

2. “In all utterance and all knowledge”

a) “In all Utterance”
i) This is a reference to speech.
ii) The Corinthians were blessed with the ability to articulate well.
iii) To be able to speak well is a blessing not to be taken for granted.
b) “And all knowledge”
i) Knowledge is not given to all.
ii) This was clearly taught by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
iii) To those on the outside only parables would be given to them.
iv) To those who were true disciples they would have knowledge of the kingdom of God (Matthew 13:11-12).
v) The Corinthian Church had been taught well and they were blessed with “all knowledge”.

This too is one of the blessings that stem from grace.
