APPRECIATING THE SALVATION THAT GOD GIVES

1. The Plan for Man’s salvation

a) To be born again by the Holy Spirit (John 3:3a)
b) To see (enter) into the Kingdom of God (John 3:3b)
c) The sending of the Lord Jesus from heaven to earth (John 3:13)

2. The Power of the Spirit of God

a) This will be applied
i) Water power
ii) Wind power
b) This will result in
i) Being “born again”
ii) Being given a new nature

3. The Part that we must plan

a) To believe
b) To look up in faith to the Lord Jesus (John 3:14-15)
c) The results:
i) We are born again (John 3:3a)
ii) We are admitted into the Kingdom of God (John 3:3b)
iii) We are healed from sin’s effects (John 3:14)
iv) We have eternal life in the salvation from God (John 3:15)
d) Full assurance 
Our assurance comes from the Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:3)

WHAT UNDERGIRDS GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION?

1. The Love of God (John 3:16a)

a) God’s love for the world
i) Both Jews and Gentiles
ii) Men and Women
iii) Old and Young
b) Profound love
i) Deep
ii) Strong
iii) Eternal
iv) Personal
v) Spiritual
vi) Practical

2. Demonstration of God’s love

a) The giving of the Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:16b)
b) He was the “only-begotten Son”

3. Encouragement to believe

a) Whoever believes in Him should not perish (John 3:16c)
b) But have everlasting life (John 3:16d)

CLEARING UP MISUNDERSTANDING ABOUT THE COMING OF THE LORD JESUS

1. Not to condemn the world (John 3:17a)

a) If God wanted to condemn the world, He would not have needed to send the Lord Jesus
b) He could have just given a word of command and the world would perish in an instant

2. But to save the world (John 3:17b)

a) Saved from sin
b) Saved from consequences of sin
c) Saved from judgment
d) Saved from Satan

RAMIFICATIONS OF BELIEVING IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

1. He who believes in Him is not condemned (John 3:18a)

2. The fear of condemnation may be removed

a) Fear of condemnation
b) Fear of judgment
c) Fear of punishment
d) Fear of eternal separation 

THE CONDEMNATION THAT MANY FEAR

1. The judgment that will come because of our sins

2. The offer of Salvation has been given

3. If there is Rejection of God’s offer of salvation

a) He who does not believe is condemned already (John 3:18b)
b) Because He has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:18c)
c) If the Saviour has been rejected we do not have the means of being saved
d) Divine justice would have to be considered
e) The fears of judgment are very real
f) They can affect us deeply
g) The Lord Jesus came to help us avoid this condemnation we fear

A BRIEF ANALYSIS WHY SOME REJECT THE LORD JESUS

1. Light of the world

The Lord Jesus is the Light that had come into the world (John 3:19a)

2. Love for darkness

And men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil (John 3:19b)

3. Hating the light

a) Everyone practising evil hates the light (John 3:20a)
b) And does not come to the light (John 3:20b)
c) Lest his deeds should be exposed (John 3:20c)

THOSE WHO LOVE THE TRUTH

1. Coming to the Light

a) He who does truth comes to the Light (John 3:21a)
b) That his deeds may be clearly seen (John 3:21b)
c) That they have been done in God (John 3:21c)

2. Encouragement to come to the Light and believe in the Lord Jesus

a) Because of God’s love
b) Because of the truth the Lord Jesus taught
c) Because of the offer of salvation
d) Because we can be born again
e) Because we can be a part of God’s Kingdom
f) Because of the hope of eternal life
g) Because the Holy Spirit will indwell us
h) Because of love for Light and Truth
i) Because of the hope of no condemnation
