A WORD OF EXHORTATION FROM MOSES

Deuteronomy 11:1-12

A. An Important reminder

1. To love the LORD   (Deuteronomy 11:1)

2. To always keep: –

a) His charge
b) His statutes
c) His judgments
d) His commandment

3. Addressing the Adults   (Deuteronomy 11:2)

a) He was not addressing the children who were born in the wilderness
b) But those who had seen the following: –   (Deuteronomy 11:3-7)
i) The chastening of the Lord
ii) His greatness
iii) His mighty hand
iv) His outstretched arm
v) His signs… His acts in Egypt
vi) The crossing of the Red Sea
vi) His presence and activity in the wilderness
vii) The punishment of Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab
The earth swallowed them up
viii) Your eyes have seen every act of the LORD which He did

4. Reasons for keeping the Commandments of the LORD

a) That you may be strong   (Deuteronomy 11:89)
b) And go in and possess the land   (Deuteronomy 11:8)
c) That you may prolong your days in the land   (Deuteronomy 11:9)

B. AN APPRECIATION OF THE PROMISED LAND

1. Which the LORD swore to give to your fathers   (Deuteronomy 11:9)

2. A land flowing with milk and honey   (Deuteronomy 11:9)

3. Not like the land of Egypt   (Deuteronomy 11:10)

4. A land of hills and valleys
Which drinks rain from the rain of heaven   (Deuteronomy 11:11)

5. A land which the LORD your God cares   (Deuteronomy 11:12a)

6. The eyes of the LORD your God are always on it (Deuteronomy 11:12b)

a) From the beginning of the year
b) To the very end of the year
