(I) COMMENCEMENT OF JOSEPH’S PUBLIC MINISTRY

1. Joseph was just 30 years old (Genesis 41:46)

a) Stood before Pharaoh (Genesis 41:1-36)

b) Received a royal appointment from Pharaoh (Genesis 41:37-45)

2. Joseph- a man of action

a) Surveyed the land of Egypt (Genesis 41:46)

b) The first seven years

i) Plentiful years (Genesis 41:47a)

ii) The ground forth abundantly (Genesis 41:47b)

iii) Gathering of food throughout Egypt (Genesis 42:48a)

iv) Food laid up in the cities (Genesis 42:48b)

v) Immeasurable amount of grain (Genesis 42:49)

(II) FAMILY OF JOSEPH

1. Two sons were born before the famine years

a) Manasseh (Genesis 41:51) (Made me forget)

b) Ephraim (Genesis 41:52) (Made me fruitful)

2. Joseph related everything back to God

(III) FAMINE IN THE LAND

1. End of seven plentiful years (Genesis 41:53)

2. Seven years of famine

a) This was already predicted (Genesis 41:54a)

b) Neighbouring countries were affected by this famine (Genesis 41:54b)

c) But there was bread in Egypt (Genesis 41:54c)

3. The people of Egypt

a) Turned to the Pharaoh for government assistance (Genesis 41:55a)

b) They were not prepared for this famine

4. Pharaoh’s response

a) Go to Joseph (Genesis 41:55a)

b) Do whatever he tells you (Genesis 41:55b)

5. Under Joseph’s administration

a) Joseph opened up the granaries (Genesis 41:56a)

b) He sold the grain to the Egyptians (Genesis 41:56b)

6. Assessment of the Famine

a) It affected more than Egypt (Genesis 41:56)

b) It was severe in the land of Egypt (Genesis 41:57a)

c) Surrounding countries came to Egypt to buy grain (Genesis 41:57b)
