1. Satan is introduced

a) As a real persona

b) He is not just an evil influence

2. He is described

a) As a serpent

b) As a deceiver

3. His fall is predicted

a) His head would be crushed

b) There will come a Seed from Eve who would destroy Satan

4. Sporadic but significant mentions of Satan

a) As an instigator to do evil (1 Chronicles 21:1)

b) As an accuser (Zechariah 3)

c) As a villainous enemy (Job 1-2)

d) As a Tempter (Matthew 4; Luke 4)

e) As our great Enemy at war against the saints (Revelation 12-13; Ephesians 6:1-10)

f) As the One who influences the world (Ephesians 2, 4; 1 John 2, 5)

g) He is a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8-9)

5. The Defeat of Satan

He will be destroyed by the Lord Jesus (Revelation 20)

6. Precious promises to all believers

a) He can defeat the evil one through faith

b) Through the word of God

c) Through Christ

d) Through strength drawn from the Lord

e) Through prayer
