Psalm 118

A SIGNIFICANT TESTIMONY

1. Calling on the Lord in times of Distress

a) I called upon the LORD in distress (Psalm 118:5a)

b) He answered me (Psalm 118:5b)

c) And set me in a broad place (Psalm 118:5c)

2. Ramifications

a) Dealing with fear

i) The LORD is on my side (Psalm 118:6a)

ii) I will not fear (Psalm 118:6b)

iii) What can man do to me? (Psalm 118:6c)

b) Help acknowledged

i) The LORD is for me (Divine help) (Psalm 118:7a)

ii) Among those who help me (human help) (Psalm 118:7b)

iii) Therefore I shall see my desire
on those who hate me (Psalm 118:7c)

c) Trust in the LORD

i) It is better to trust in the LORD (Psalm 118:8a)

ii) Than to put confidence in man (Psalm 118:8b)

iii) Than to put confidence in princes (Psalm 118:9c)

d) Invocation of the name of the LORD

i) In the name of the LORD I will destroy them (Psalm 118:10)

ii) In the name of the LORD I will destroy them (Psalm 118:11)

iii) In the name of the LORD I will destroy them (Psalm 118:12)
