Looking ahead to Family Camp 2026

We begin the month of March with great excitement, anticipating the commencement of Bethany’s Family Camp in slightly more than a week. We look forward to a blessed time of learning from the Lord’s Word and a great time of fellowship with fellow brethren from Bethany.

The Family Camp Ministry has been a vital part of Bethany’s plans each year. We have held these camps for many decades. This year, we thank God that more than 500 participants have signed up. What are some reasons the camp ministry is so vital to many of us?

Reasons for the Family Camp

1. Spiritual timeout

  1. Family camp is a time to have a spiritual timeout.
  2. It is time to take a break from our busy lives filled with work and family commitments.
  3. The Lord Jesus told His disciples to come aside to a deserted place and rest for a while (Mark 6:31).
  4. It is a time to be with our heavenly Father and to draw closer to Him personally.
  5. Let us seek to allocate time to be much in prayer…to be in communion with God.

2. Spiritual awakening

  1. Family Camp is also a time for us to have a spiritual awakening.
  2. It is to rediscover God…for who He is and what He has done for us.
  3. Our prayer should be for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to enlighten the eyes of our understanding (heart)…to go deeper in our understanding of the Lord (Ephesians 1:17–18).
  4. We tend to assume we already know God, but in reality, we are still very shallow in our thinking.
  5. Let us seek a spiritual awakening of our understanding of God and in relating with Him.

3. Spiritual renewal

  1. Another reason is that it is a time for us to be spiritually revived.
  2. The difficulties of life can cause our souls to be weary and heavy (Psalm 119:25,28).
  3. The deep study of the Lord’s Word can bring revival to our souls.
  4. There comes inner strength and the uplifting of our spirits.
  5. There comes a spiritual second wind that drives our faith further in living for the Lord.

4. Spiritual direction

  1. New spiritual perspectives and understanding will be discovered.
  2. We ought to grow in faith and in our understanding of how we should live and serve God.
  3. His divine plans for us will be revealed to us both as individuals and as a church.
  4. We are living in challenging and uncertain times.
  5. Let us recognise the great need to seek and follow God’s spiritual direction.

Looking forward

As we look ahead to Family Camp, let us not just be there to learn theoretically. Let us be challenged to rediscover God anew as we study His Word and to be recharged spiritually to live and serve Him for the rest of the year and beyond.
