Lesson 13

10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

1 Corinthians 2:10-12

1. Understanding of the Scriptures

a) It comes from God
b) He reveals His Word of truth to us
c) This would always be through the Holy Spirit

2. An understanding of how the Holy Spirit reveals God’s word

a) The Holy Spirit searches all things
b) Even the deep things of God
i) General knowledge is obtained fairly easily
ii) The deep things of God cannot be fathomed by us
iii) The Spirit of God has to impart deep knowledge of God

3. The deep and vast knowledge of God

a) An example of God’s knowledge (Job 38-41)
b) Note Job’s response to God’s word to him (Job 42:1-6)
c) No one knows the deep things of God except the Spirit of God

4. What we have received from God

a) Not the spirit of the world
i) Pride
ii) Arrogance
b) The Holy Spirit of God
i) We have been given the Gift of the Spirit
ii) So that we may know “all things” better
