Text: Revelation 16

1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.”

2 So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.

3 Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died.

4 Then the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood.

5 And I heard the angel of the waters saying:
“You are righteous, O Lord,
The One who is and who was and who is to be,
Because You have judged these things.

6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets,
And You have given them blood to drink.
For it is their just due.”

7 And I heard another from the altar saying, “Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.”

THE COMMAND OF GOD

Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.”

Revelation 16:1

1. This command was given to the Seven Angels

2. They were to pour out the bowls of wrath of God on the earth

THE FIRST BOWL OF WRATH

So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.

Revelation 16:2

1. The first bowl of wrath was poured out

2. A loathsome sore appeared on those who had the mark of the beast

3. The worshippers of the beast will be judged

THE SECOND BOWL OF WRATH

Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died.

Revelation 16:3

1. The second bowl of wrath was poured out on the sea

2. The sea became blood

3. All sea creatures died

THE THIRD BOWL OF WRATH

Then the third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood.

Revelation 16:4

1. The third bowl of wrath was poured out

2. Fresh water rivers and springs became blood too

3. Consequences would be very severe

ANGELIC RESPONSES

5 And I heard the angel of the waters saying:
“You are righteous, O Lord,
The One who is and who was and who is to be,
Because You have judged these things.

6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets,
And You have given them blood to drink.
[For it is their just due.”

7 And I heard another from the altar saying, “Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are Your judgments.”

Revelation 16:5-7

1. The angel of the waters

a) He praised God for His righteousness
b) God’s judgment is deemed correct and just
c) The world was guilty of the blood of the saints and prophets
d) They will now drink blood

2. The angel of the Altar

a) He is in full agreement
b) The Lord is God Almighty
c) He is true and righteous in His judgments
