LET THE EARTH FEAR THE LORD

THE FEAR OF THE LORD

It is something that must always be personal and real. But it is also something the world at large must learn to have.

8 Let all the earth fear the LORD;

Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

9 For He spoke, and it was done;

He commanded, and it stood fast.

10 The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;

He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.

11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever,

The plans of His heart to all generations.     Psalm 33:8-11

  1. The fear of the Lord defined

a) It is essentially a great sense of awe for the Lord

b) A godless world does not practise this reverence for God

  1. Reasons for this awe of God

a) When God speaks

i)  That word would be steadfast

ii) His word would be fulfilled

b) The power of God

i)  He brings the counsel of the world to nothing

ii) Human power is limited in comparison

c) The counsel of God

i)  It transcends time

ii) It will never fade away in its power

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

  1. Let us seek to practise the fear of God consistently
  1. Let us pray that this fear of God would continue to grow and spread
