HEIRS OF GOD

Text: Romans 8
16 February 2025

THE ABUNDANCE OF GOD’S PROVISION

How wondrously God has provided for all who are truly His children! Let us ponder this glorious text the Apostle Paul wrote about our being “sons of God.” 

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 

15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 

16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 

17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.     Romans 8:14-17

  1. Sons of God

a) It is the special work of the Holy Spirit

b) He enables us to be “born again” John 3:3

  1. Spirit of adoption

a) The Spirit of God will teach us how to pray

b) He will help us how to relate to God the Father

  1. The Spirit is our Witness

a) He confirms that we are God’s children

b) He gives us deep assurance that we truly are God’s children

HEIRS OF GOD

How wonderful to note all these details written to encourage our hearts!

  1. We are not only children of God
  1. We are also heirs of the Lord
  1. We are in fact “joint heirs” with the Lord Jesus Christ!

Let us seek to discover more about our faith. Let us grow in knowledge and in wisdom! May our faith stand us in good stead!
