Text: Exodus 35: 27-29
MEDITATION
Exodus 35:27-29
27 The rulers brought onyx stones, and the stones to be set in the ephod and in the breastplate,
28 and spices and oil for the light, for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense.
29 The children of Israel brought a freewill offering to the LORD, all the men and women whose hearts were willing to bring material for all kinds of work which the LORD, by the hand of Moses, had commanded to be done.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The rulers
a. They were sometimes called “the elders”.
b. They were the ones who helped Moses to look after the children of Israel.
2. The gifts of the rulers
a. Onyx stones.
b. Other stones to be set in the ephod and the breastplate of the high priest.
c. Spices and oil for the Lamp in the Tabernacle.
d. Spices and oil for the anointing oil.
e. Spices and oil for the sweet incense.
3. The children of Israel
a. A freewill offering.
b. Both men and women gave freely.
c. They gave out of their hearts willingly.
4. The command of the LORD
a. They recognized that this word to give freely and willingly came from God.
b. They understood that this command was given by God to Moses.
c. Their hearts were moved to give willingly to the Lord.
d. They accepted that this divine command from God had to be obeyed.
e. They were willing to give all that they could.
A RARE OCCURRENCE
This was a special time in the history of Israel when people gave in this manner!

27众官长把红玛瑙和别样的宝石,可以镶嵌在以弗得与胸牌上的,都拿了来,
28又拿香料做香,拿油点灯,做膏油。29以色列人,无论男女,凡甘心乐意献礼物给耶和华的,都将礼物拿来,做耶和华借摩西所吩咐的一切工。
