THE TEACHING OF THE IMMENSE LOVE OF GOD

“For God so loved the world…”   John 3:16

1. The nature of His love

a. It is strong
b. It is sacrificial
c. It stands forever
d. It is unconditional

2. The extent of God’s love

a. It is so rich
b. It is so deep
c. It goes beyond human love
d. It goes beyond the limits of human understanding

THE EVIDENCE OF THE IMMENSE LOVE OF GOD

“That He gave His only begotten Son…”   John 3:16

1. The gift of His only Son

a. God loved His one and only Son, the Lord Jesus, deeply and perfectly.
b. God’s son was most precious to Him
c. He was the One who was closest to Him.

2. The giving of His only Son

a. And yet God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son
b. God is willing to give that which is most precious and dear to Him.
i. He gave His Son to reach the world.
ii. He gave His Son to die for the world.
c. This is the ultimate expression of His sacrificial love.

3. Seeing God’s amazing love

a. Deep appreciation
b. Great wonder

APPROPRIATE RESPONSES

1. Having faith in the Lord

“That whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”   John 3:16
a. The emphasis is on the person who is believing.
b. It is believing with our heart and not just with our mind.
c. We can be touched by His love and to respond with faith in the Lord Jesus
d. There is no more condemnation when we believe in Him.

2. Appreciating the richness of the love of God

a. Richness of God’s love for us
b. Richness of life because of faith and understanding of God’s love
c. Richness of life because of our hope of everlasting life in heaven

3. Leading a life of faith that comes from abundance of hope and joy

a. When we grow in faith, we can experience life abundantly
i. Feeling loved by God.
ii. To continue to be loved by God
iii. No matter what we go through in life, we know that He still loves us.
iv. There is no condemnation.
b. Aspects of abundance of life
i. Great hope in the Lord
ii. Great joy in the Lord
iii. Great peace in the Lord
c. Living a life of faith and love for the Lord
