Text: Genesis 15: 14-16
MEDITATION
Genesis 15:14-16
14 And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions.
15 Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. A prophetic word from the LORD (II)
a. The message from the LORD also included a word of judgment.
b. The nation that would oppress the descendants would not go unpunished.
c. The LORD would judge the nation for the affliction laid upon Abram’s descendants.
2. A prophetic word from the LORD (III)
a. The descendants of Abram would one day be freed from their bondage and affliction.
b. They would leave that nation “with great possessions”.
3. A prophetic word from the LORD (IV)
a. This word was for Abram personally.
b. He would live to a good old age.
c. He would rest in peace.
4. A prophetic word from the LORD (V)
a. The descendants of Abram would one day possess Canaan.
b. This was what God had promised Abram on an earlier occasion (Genesis 13:14-17).
5. A prophetic word from the LORD (VI)
a. The Amorites (and others) were residing in Canaan presently.
b. “The iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete”
i. God could have judged the Amorites (and other sinful nations immediately).
ii. But in His grace and mercy He had allowed them to live in Canaan.
iii. But one day, their iniquities would have reached their limit and they would be judged.
The prophetic word to Abram was quite comprehensive with reference to his descendants.
