A New Commandment I Give To You
It was with great love that Jesus came down to earth,
He saw so much darkness, there was no heartfelt mirth.
He knew that one problem was a lack of divine love,
Man’s heart is empty till it is touched by God above.
Jesus knew that He had to teach by the power of His life,
Words were not enough to help people overcome strife.
Love was more than just a feeling, it was strong compassion,
The heart, the mind, the soul must be filled with pure emotion.
Lovingly He called His disciples by name, one by one,
His disciples, His apostles, His friends they had become.
They felt Divine love as never before in their sinful past,
They had come to understand God’s love at last.
“A new commandment I give to you,” Jesus said,
Everything bad must go, love must fill the heart instead.
Have we been touched by the love of our Father God?
Let us keep this New Commandment given by the Lord.
