THE STONE HAD BEEN TAKEN AWAY

THE STONE HAD BEEN TAKEN AWAY

Mary was there at the scene of the cruel crucifixion,
She would never be able to forget her Master’s affliction.
Etched upon her heart and mind were the Jesus said,
His words remained with her though He was dead.

That Passover was the saddest one she observed,
Her heart was deeply hurt and she became reserved.
The Sabbath was meant to be a day of complete rest,
Her heart was heavy, her feelings were barely repressed.

On the first day of the week, the moment the Sabbath ended,
She quickly made her way to the Tomb where Jesus was interred.
It was still dark, and perhaps there was danger, but she was not afraid,
All she thought of was her beloved Teacher who was dead.

As she came to the tomb, her heart felt great dismay,
The tomb was wide open, the stone was rolled away.
Confused, angry, scared, she ran back to her friends,
How could this have happened to Jesus at the very end?

Many terrible thoughts rushed through her mind.
Some were depressing, all were unkind.
They had already crucified her beloved Teacher,
How could they hurt One who never harmed a creature?

The tomb was empty and her heart was empty too,
She was in such sorrow, she did not know what to do.
She had informed her friends who ran to the tomb,
Her heart should have rejoiced, but there was room.
