SANCTIFY THEM BY YOUR TRUTH
With authority and power Jesus diligently taught,
Few however went beyond the little they had caught.
They did not realize the true extent of His power,
What great blessings God could, on them, shower.
His words of truth could bring eternal life,
His word could bring peace where there is strife.
Was there someone who felt lost and dead,
His word could give revival to the spirit instead.
His word also had a special sanctifying power,
His word could keep them safe in temptation’s hour.
“Sanctify them with Your truth” was another prayer,
God would keep them holy despite the world’s snares.
Even as Jesus prayed for the disciples’ protection,
He knew that He must keep Himself in sanctification.
His personal life and the word that He taught,
He kept Himself sanctified as He knew He ought.
