#1: I WILL TAKE YOU AS MY PEOPLE
In His mercy and love God gave to Abraham a Covenant,
He would not only bless him, but also all his descendants.
Abraham’s faith was real and he trusted with all his heart,
He stumbled at times, but from the Lord, he did not depart.
The children of Israel sojourned in Egypt for hundreds of years,
The earlier years were good but the latter was fraught with tears.
Great hardship was imposed on Israel, the people of the Lord,
Their hearts cried out for deliverance to their fathers’ God!
God heard their cries and Moses was sent to be their shepherd,
Through him the children of Israel would learn God’s holy Word.
“I will take you as My people,” Moses was to make this proclamation,
“And I will be your God,”- This was a truly glorious word of affirmation.
God would make a Covenant with the children of Israel out of love,
They were no more than slaves to Pharaoh, but not to God above!
They would become His children and He would provide for them,
They would become His inheritance, His treasure, His precious gems!
