(I) GOD’S COMMUNICATION WITH MAN

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past…” Hebrews 1:1a

1. God has always sought to communicate with man

2. He has always taken the initiative to speak to man

a) At various times

b) In various ways

3. God’s purpose of communicating with man

a) To reveal Himself

b) To teach man how to relate to Him

i) In faith

ii) In reverence

iii) In joy

iv) In love

v) In Hope

(II) VARIED WAYS OF COMMUNICATING WITH MAN

“Spoke in time past by the prophets” Hebrews 1:1b

1. Through the lives of the prophets

“We are for signs and wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts who dwells in Mount Zion” Isaiah 8:18

2. Through the messages of the prophets

“Behold, I have put My words in your mouth” Jeremiah 1:9

3. Through powerful miracles at the hands of the prophet

“As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” 1 Kings 18:1

(III) GOD’S MOST SIGNIFICANT SPOKESMAN

“Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.” Hebrews 1:2

1. In these last days

a) God has an urgent word to give to Man

b) These are the last days

2. Spoke to us by His Son

a) He is Heir of all things

b) He is Co-creator

c) He is God’s Special Spokesman

(IV) RESPONDING TO JESUS AND HIS MESSAGE FROM GOD

“Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation…” Hebrews 2:1-3

1. More earnest heed ought to be given

2. Grave danger if the message of salvation is neglected
