INTRODUCTION OF NEW PULPIT THEME

1. Omnipresence of God

a) He is everywhere
b) There isn’t a place where God may not be found   (Psalm 139)

2. The Special Presence of God

a) God makes His presence known
b) He makes His presence felt
c) The wicked will flee from the presence of God   (Psalm 68:2)
d) The righteous will rejoice when God makes His presence known and felt   (Psalm 68:3)

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PRESENCE OF GOD

1. Exemplified in the life of Abram, the son of Terah   (Genesis 11:27)

a) There was a time when Abram did not know God
b) The Scriptures introduced him as hailing from Ur of Chaldea and then Haran
c) The knowledge of God made all the difference
d) The presence of God in his life and its meaning became clearer

2. Extraordinary revealed knowledge to Abram

a) God made Himself known to Abram
b) God’s word to Abram
i) Get out of your country
ii) From your family
iii) And from your father’s house
iv) To a land that I will show you   (Genesis 12:1)

3. Extra word of promise

a) I will make you a great nation
b) I will bless you
c) And make your name great
d) And you shall be a blessing   (Genesis 12:2)
e) I will bless those who bless you
f) And I will curse him who curses you
g) And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed   (Genesis 12:3)

EXPRESSION OF TRUE FAITH IN GOD

1. Faith is evidenced through obedience

Abram obeyed immediately
So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken   (Genesis 12:4)

2. Faith may be shared by the family

a) Sarai
b) Lot, his nephew
c) The people who were part of the household of Abram   (Genesis 12:5)

3. Faith is a journey of a life-time

a) Of learning
b) Of discovering the significance of the Presence of God in life
