THE CONCEPT OF GLORY

1. It is always associated with God

Exodus 19, 24, 34
a) His Person
b) His name
c) His works/ deeds

2. It is also associated with

a) Manifestations that are especially historic
b) Miracles that God performs   (1 Chronicles 16; Psalm 78)

3. His glory is seen in Creation

a) The heavens   (Psalm 19)
b) The mountains
c) The mighty oceans
d) In Man who is made in the image of God   (Genesis 1:26-27)

4. His glory is seen in the Scriptures

a) It is living   (Hebrews 4:12)
b) It has power to transform lives   (Psalm 19:7-11)

5. His glory is manifested in Jesus   (John 1:14)

a) Full of Grace
b) And truth
c) As of the only begotten of the Father

6. The Holy Spirit

He is appropriately called “The Spirit of glory of God”   (1 Peter 4:14)

APPLICATION OF THE CONCEPT OF GLORY

1. Applied to the Thessalonian Christians

a) “You are our hope, our joy, or crown of rejoicing”
b) “For you are our glory and joy”   (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20)

2. The name of the Lord Jesus may be glorified in you   (2 Thessalonians 1:12)

a) The Lord’s name may be glorified in us
b) How we turn out in life can bring glory to the Lord

CHALLENGES TO APPLY THE CONCEPT OF GLORY IN OUR LIFE

1. To glorify God in body and spirit   (1 Corinthians 6:20)

2. The riches of the glory of this mystery

Which is Christ in you, the hope of glory   (Colossians 1:27)

3. Transformed into the same image

From glory to glory   (2 Corinthians 3:18)
