(I) FAITH IN GOD

1. It is the starting point of our relationship with God

2. Faith was never meant to be a static and passive entity

3. Faith enables us to comprehend the things of God

4. Faith enables us to cope in the hardest of circumstances

(II) FELLOWSHP WITH MAN

“That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us…” 1 John 1:3

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” 1 John 1:7

1. Our walk in the light

a) Walk- a reference to the practice of faith in life

b) Walk in the light- a special reference to a life marked by “light”

2. Our fellowship with one another as people who walk in the light

a) The fact of our fellowship with each other

b) The basis of our fellowship with each other is centered in a common faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

(II) FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD

“And truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ” 1 John 1:3b

“If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practise the truth” 1 John 1:6

1. Fellowship describes a special relationship with God the Father

a) As His children

b) As children who are close to the Father

2. Fellowship with the Son

a) As Disciples

b) As Disciples committed to abiding with Christ

c) As Disciples who abide in the truth

d) As Disciples who abide in His love

(III) RESULTS OF THIS WONDERFUL FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD

1. There is fullness of joy (1 John 1:4)

2. There is fullness of fellowship
