(I) A MESSAGE OF COMFORT

 My people!” Isaiah 40:1a

(II) MEETING OUR NEED FOR COMFORT

(III) MEASURES TAKEN TO BRING COMFORT

1. God sent His servants, the prophets

2. God sent His Son, the Messiah

3. God’s plans revealed

a) To bring people back to Himself (Isaiah 49:5c)

b) To raise up the tribes (Isaiah 49:6b)

c) To restore the preserved ones (Isaiah 49:6c)

(IV) MESSAGE THIS CHRISTMAS

1. God has chosen the Person through whom blessings will flow

“He has chosen You” The Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ Isaiah 49:7j

2. God has given Jesus to effect a New Covenant

“I will preserve You and give You a covenant to the people, to restore the earth, to cause them to inherit the desolate heritage.” Isaiah 49:8

1. Receive Jesus as our Saviour

2. Relate to Him as our Shepherd

3. Rejoice in Him as our Lord
