To Recover the Remnant of His people

(I) PLIGHT OF THE REMNANT

“Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant,
The houses are without a man
The land is utterly desolate.
The LORD has removed men far way
And the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land” Isaiah 6:11

(II) PLAN OF GOD TO RECOVER THE REMNANT

“It shall come to pass in that day that the LORD shall set His hand
Again the second time to recover the remnant of His people who are left…” Isaiah 11:11a

1. The first time

When Moses delivered Israel from bondage to the Pharaoh of ancient Egypt

2. The second time

a) A more extensive work

b) Gathering of the scattered Remnant

“From Assyria and Egypt, from Pathros and Cush, from Elam and Shinar, from Hamath and the islands of the sea” Isaiah 11;11b

c) Leading of the Remnant

“There will be a highway for the remnant of His people…” Isaiah 11:16

(III) PLAN OF GOD TO BE FULFILLED THROUGH HIS MESSIAH

1. A wonderful Prophetic Promise

“There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse;
And a Branch shall grow out of his roots” Isaiah 11:1

2. A wonderful Profile of the Promised Messiah

“The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of Counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD” Isaiah 11:2

3. A wonderful Plan of Work Disclosed

“And with righteousness He shall judge the poor,
and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth
And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.” Isaiah 11:4

4. A Wonderful Prophetic Vision of the future

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb,
The leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
The calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
And a little child shall lead them.” Isaiah 11:6

(IV) PERSONAL RESPONSE

1. To appreciate the mercy of the Lord afresh

2. To pray for the Lord’s plans to be fulfilled completely

3. To look forward to the Millennial kingdom of the Lord
