BEYOND THE FORGIVENESS OF SIN

Having God As Our Teacher

“Forgiveness is a miracle of love”. This is the title of a song that we often sing from our Church songbook “Voices In Praise”. When we have been forgiven by God of our sins, we should truly appreciate it is as a miraculous expression of His mercies and love for us. The Psalmist wrote of how blessed the person is whose transgressions have been forgiven (Psalm 32:1). He also wrote of how we cannot remain at just being forgiven. The Lord specially spoke to the Psalmist of the great need to be instructed further.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.”

Psalm 32:8

1. Instruction

Every person who wants to follow the way of the Lord needs to be instructed first. We need to be instructed with foundational knowledge from the Scriptures. The Lord is committed to instructing us.

2. Teaching

Beyond general knowledge, the Lord will also teach us specifically about the way we should go. He will teach us individually the right path we need to take in life. The Lord will give us wisdom and understanding to do this.

3. Guidance

As the Lord sees us following His way, He will guide us further every step of the way. Let’s submit to the Lord’s teaching and guidance. Let’s not be stubborn like a horse or a mule that rebels against the commands of its owner. Let’s not be animals that have no understanding. Instead, let’s learn to obey the leading of the Lord.

Being Glad In The Lord

“Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous;
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!”

Psalm 32:11

The Psalmist made a call to the righteous to be glad in the Lord and to shout for joy. There will come a special sense of joy to those whose hearts are right with God, to those who follow His way and trust in Him. We must start learning to rejoice in the Lord. When we follow the way that God has instructed us in, His mercies and blessings will be upon us. There will come a special sense of joy. Let’s make this Christmas a great time of rejoicing in the Lord. This Saturday, we will be having Christmas carolling in Church. There will be the Christmas Concerts on the 22nd and 23rd of December. There is the Christmas service and lunch at Shangri-la. Let’s use these occasions to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus and to rejoice in Him. May we find a tremendous sense of joy in the Lord this Christmas.
