Beware Of Satan’s Servants Disguised As Apostles Of Christ

By now, it should be apparent to all that we are involved in a great spiritual conflict. The evil one and his dark forces are at war with the sons of light. They will do all they can to destroy our faith. One of the strategies of the evil one is the employment of false teachers. The apostle Paul warned of how Satan will use false apostles to carry out his work.

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness…”
2 Corinthians 11:13-15

There were false people who deceitfully disguised themselves as apostles of Christ. They posed as apostles of Christ but inwardly, they were false teachers, seeking to sow falsehood. Obviously, the power behind these false apostles was the evil one. It was the evil one who is capable of transforming himself into an angel of light. We must not be surprised that there are such false apostles who disguise themselves as God’s servants.

The Crafty Preaching Of A Different Gospel

“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached… or a different gospel which you have not accepted…”
2 Corinthians 11:3-4

The evil one’s main purpose is to craftily corrupt people’s minds through the preaching of a different gospel. This counterfeit gospel may seem like the real thing. These false teachers speak of Jesus. However, on further analysis, we will realise they preach a Jesus that is not of the Bible. It is important that we do not have just a simplistic understanding of the gospel, but a deep understanding of gospel truths.

Having Mighty Weapons That Can War Against False Teachings

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…”
2 Corinthians 10:4-6

The weapons that we have are mighty in God. Even though false teachers may deceive many, the truths that we hold fast to can pull down their fallacious arguments. Truth will always prevail against falsehood. Our challenge is to have a deeper knowledge of God and truth. When we subject these erroneous teachings to the scrutiny of Biblical truths, they will not stand. Our obedience ultimately must be to the words of Christ. We are not to cling to thoughts that do not conform to the life and teaching of the Lord Jesus. We are to bring every thought into captivity to the truths of Christ. Young people, the Lord has provided us a powerful weapon called truth. Let’s seek to grow in our knowledge of God. Let’s seek to be obedient to all the truths of Christ. Let’s seek to follow His example in all that we do. When we do these, we will have a mighty weapon against falsehood.
