Celebrating Bethel’s 20th anniversary

This week is probably one of the most exciting weeks in the history of Bethel IPC. There is a great spirit of anticipation among the people as they celebrate Bethel’s 20th Anniversary. The first part of the celebration is having a worship service on Thursday at Bethel and the second part is having a dinner celebration at Crown Perth Hotel. This is the biggest celebration ever and it is totally unprecedented. We thank God for the opportunity for all to give glory to the Lord and to minister to many who will be coming.

We are a people

Pastor Charlie was sharing with the church what Bethel has become at their ACM on Monday, 8 September 2014. One thing that struck me was what he said about Bethel… “We are a people”. The Apostle Paul wrote, “Now I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.” (Rom 15:14) We thank God for His blessings on Bethel. We have seen how the goodness of God has been given to Bethel. Knowledge has also been taught through the pastors. The church has been encouraged much over the years.

When Bethel first started 20 years ago, they only had a handful of people. But the church has grown over the years from strength to strength. At the dinner celebration, we will be having 567 people. It is indeed a wonderful development. Truly, the church has become brethren…a people filled with God’s goodness which augurs well for Bethel’s future.

Thank God for our pastors

We thank God for the vision that God laid on the heart of Pastor Charlie. It was through the Lord’s vision that Bethel embarked on a huge building project and sought to build the present premises. Last year, Pastor Charlie proposed to have the Anniversary celebrations on a much larger scale…to have 40 tables for the Anniversary dinner celebration at that time. But now it has increased to 56 tables. We thank God for a pastor who is forward looking and guiding Bethel with the Lord’s leading.

We also thank God for Pastor Chris for being the Resident Pastor of Bethel. From the time when he was a Student Pastor and now as an ordained pastor, he has grown much over the years. He has sought to preach well and to love the brethren. He has worked very hard to carry out the work of God. He has been a faithful servant of the Lord despite being a young pastor. We truly want to thank God for his spirit in being able to work well with the pastoral team and with the brethren.

Praying for the future

Over the last 20 years, the Lord’s involvement in Bethel’s growth has been undeniable. As we look ahead to the future of Bethel…to its 21st year of ministry, we recognise the need for the Lord to continue to lead and to bless Bethel. What would the Lord lead Bethel to do for the next year?

Our part is to pray for Bethel that the Lord will continue to guide the church according to His will and plans. Let’s seek to show our continued support for our brethren that they may see Bethel rise up in greater strength, especially the next generation to fulfill the Lord’s work. Let’s pray for the future of Bethel that they will continue to be a people that will love the Lord and to carry out the work of God in Perth.
