LIKE A WEANED CHILD

Life begins as a baby, needing mother’s milk constantly;

Thank God for mothers who devote themselves quietly.

And through constant feeding and loving care, the baby grows,

Steadily health is achieved and strength that overflows.

But at some time, the little child must be weaned;

This is not easy, but painful at times, so it seems.

But this is important for the future of the child;

It must feed on solids, or strength would be mild.

This is true in the spiritual realm, we must understand;

It is important we grow up, many things to comprehend.

It is not easy to grow up well, and we must not fail;

God will be there to help us, over problems to prevail.

We must learn how not to be haughty in life;

We can learn how to be calm amidst strife.

Our hope is in the most wonderful God;

How glorious it is to trust in the Lord!
